SCENE 1 | Grundgetta arrives at Oscar's trash can, just as Maria passes by. Oscar is just waking up and Maria says to him, "Buenos dias." Half-asleep, Oscar casually repeats it back to her. Grundgetta is shocked and tells him what's he done: he just wished a "good morning" to Maria in Spanish! She wants to go to the dump, but Oscar doesn't want to leave until he rectifies things by wishing Maria a rotten morning in English and Spanish. Grundgetta likes the idea, but neither know how to say it in Spanish. |
