Picture Segment Description
SCENE 1 The Count, Ernie, Rubber Duckie, and Maria welcome the viewer to Sesame Street. The Count is going to the Count Convention. He asks Maria if she can count for him but she has to fix a broken toaster. He asks Ernie and Rubber Duckie who are happy to do it because they have nothing planned to do today. The Count will have to teach him a fast lesson about counting.
Song "The First Time" Children try various activities (riding tricycles, tying shoes, etc.) and progressively improve.

The Count is wearied by it all, yet admits to admiring Ernie's enthusiasm.

SCENE 7 The Count suggests that he and Ernie count together. They count Little Bo Peep's sheep. The Count is so thrilled he wants Ernie to count with him every day, but the latter declines. He needs time to play with Bert, sing about visiting the moon, and take baths with Rubber Duckie. Ernie can still count for the rest of the day, however, including cows dancing the cha-cha (led by Gladys).
