COLD OPEN | My Favorite Sesame Street Moments: Harry Connick, Jr. discusses scenes on the stoop and how they represent equality.
SCENE | Big Bird welcomes the viewer as he fluffs his feathers. Elmo catches up with him and wants to fluff along, so the two sing a brief fluffing tune. Elmo wonders what it would be like to be all feathery and wishes he could be a bird. This summons his Fairy Godperson, who plays back Elmo's wish on his cellular wand. With a musical spell, the Godperson turns Elmo into a little, red bird! He vanishes off to help his next client, a moose who wants to fly like a squirrel. Big Bird is impressed with the new bird Elmo.
SCENE cont'd | Big Bird enters Hooper's Store and orders two birdseed milkshakes, one for himself and the other for Elmo. Alan assumes Elmo is just pretending to be a bird and is shocked to see his new form gulp down the birdseed milkshake. Big Bird then invites Elmo-Bird to the Birdketeer meeting.
SCENE cont'd | At the Birdketeer meeting, Big Bird introduces everyone to the new Elmo-Bird. They all count the number of times Elmo-Bird flies past them. He flies too high and collides with Super Grover. Grover notes how familiar the bird seems and goes back to the skies.
SCENE cont'd | The meeting ends and Big Bird thinks of all the fun, bird things he and Elmo-Bird can do together. However, he soon realizes he'll miss having the actual Elmo around and the two agree he should change back. Elmo-Bird makes a wish to summon the Fairy Godperson, who musically turns Elmo back to his monster self. The Godperson poofs off to pick up things for his mommy ("I'm not just a fairy godperson. I have a life too!"). Elmo is happy to be back to normal, though is craving another birdseed milkshake and heads off to Hooper's for one.
