Picture Segment Description

SCENE Big Bird looks for someone to play with. He approaches Maria, but she's too busy working at the Fix-It Shop to play.
SCENE, cont'd He next approaches Alan and Gordon, but they're too busy to play as well.
SCENE, cont'd Exasperated, Big Bird wishes that the adults were just like kids. To his surprise, his Fairy Godperson appears and offers to grant him his wish!
SCENE, cont'd With a wave of his magic wand, the Fairy Godperson turns Maria, Alan, and Gordon into children, then leaves to respond to other peoples' wishes.

SCENE, cont'd Gordon, Alan, and Maria offer to play tag with Big Bird. Luis walks by and wonders where Maria went.
SCENE, cont'd Baby Bear walks into Hooper's Store and asks for porridge, but Alan is nowhere to be found. He notices that one of the kids playing outside has a shirt just like Alan's.
SCENE, cont'd As Big Bird and the kids play hopscotch, Miles walks outside and wonders when his dad will come home.
SCENE, cont'd Working alone, Luis fixes a fat blue Anything Muppet's cuckoo clock. As Big Bird and the kids play, he swears that one of them look familiar.

SCENE, cont'd Young Gordon, Alan, and Maria have been recruited as Birdketeers, and they wave their arms outside. Baby Bear, Luis, and Miles congregate and wonder where the other adults are. Big Bird and the Birdketeers walk in, and the others note that the kids remind them of Gordon, Alan, and Maria. They leave and persist in trying to find them, however.

SCENE, cont'd Big Bird and the kids take a break. Big Bird asks the young Alan to make a birdseed milkshake at Hooper's Store, but he doesn't know how. He then looks over at Hooper's Store and the Fix-It Shop, and notes the commotion going on. Big Bird regrets his wish, and wishes that everyone could go back to the way they were.


SCENE, cont'd Fairy Godperson reappears, and reluctantly turns Gordon, Alan, and Maria back into adults upon Big Bird's command. The Fairy Godperson leaves to go home and clean his room, and Big Bird thanks Gordon, Alan, and Maria for coming back. They reason that while work is crucial in their lives, it's important to leave time for play as well. As they go back to work, several children ride up on tricycles and an instrumental snippet of "Somebody Come and Play" is heard.
