What's the Word on the Street?: Murray Monster introduces the word "lazy".
Maria welcomes the viewers after a piece of toast flies in her face. Then Elmo walks by and wants Maria to read him a story. Maria tells him that she's already read that book to him 10 times. Elmo replies, "Make it eleven!" Maria finally gives up and reads Elmo his story called Lucy the Lazy Lizard'.
After Maria finishes telling Elmo the story, he wants to tell Telly the story. So he goes and finds Telly, only to find him playing with his train set, talking his triangles to Toronto. Elmo tells Telly about the book, but Telly is too busy playing with the train. Elmo tells Telly that it's the greatest story in the world, but Telly tells him maybe after train time is over. Elmo then gives up, and decides to ask Maria to read it to him again. He's about to leave when he hears Telly trying to decide where to take his triangles next. Elmo suggests Lackawana, the place that Lucy the Lazy Lizard lives in the story. Telly thinks it's a great name and thanks Elmo. Then he calls out "All aboard triangles going to Lackawana!" And as Telly starts moving the train, Elmo tells him that the train is going to hit Lucy the Lazy Lizard lying on a log in the middle of the train track, according to the story. Telly says he will stop the train, but Elmo tells him that it is too late. "The train is going lickety lickety!" Elmo says. Telly says "Oh no! I can't look!" And then Elmo tells him that Lucy is the strongest lizard in Lackawana. And then as the train goes over the tracks, Lucy lifts the tracks, having the train go right over her head. Telly whistles (with a whistle) for joy as Elmo tells him that now Lucy goes back to laying on her lovely, little log. Telly is amazed. He asks Elmo where he got such an amazing train story. Elmo tells him from the book. Telly says "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's read that book!" Then Elmo tells him that he knows it by heart. Then Elmo starts telling Telly the story.
Richard Belzer trys to show the viewers about the word 'lazy'. But he tells them that he is too lazy to show them about lazy. Then he realizes that he just showed them lazy.
