COLD OPEN | What's the Word on the Street?: Murray Monster introduces the word Pumpernickel.
SCENE | Elmo wants to play tag, but Zoe wants to play checkers. Alan notices them arguing, and suggests they play the "letter P game." In order to play, they need to look around the store for things that start with the letter P, such as pickles. While Elmo and Zoe have difficulty looking for P words, a penguin (who pronounces his p's hard) comes in and orders a peanut butter sandwich on pumpernickel bread, with a slice of pineapple, and a potato.
SCENE, cont'd | Elmo and Zoe ask the penguin for help, but they realize their question has been already answered! When they see the penguin's meal, they find even more P objects. Suddenly, Abby Cadabby poofs into Hooper's. Elmo and Zoe tell her what game they're playing, and she wants to join. With a wave of her wand and a special rhyme, Abby turns a salt shaker into a pumpkin.
SCENE, cont'd | Abby, suddenly becoming inspired, poofs herself to Fairyland and brings back Peter Piper (from the nursery rhyme) and Prince Paul Charming (modeled after the Beatle) from the Cinderella fairytale. Peter and the Prince are perfect for the letter "P" game, but Peter needs his patch of pickled peppers to pick, and Prince Paul needs to find the foot that fits the glass slipper. They search Hooper's for what they want, but don't succeed.
SCENE, cont'd | The Fairylanders need to get back to Fairyland, but Abby hasn't learned how to send people back. She remembers that her mommy does it by saying a rhyme and waving her wand, so she decides to give it a try. With the help of her friends and the perfect rhyme, Peter and the Prince are successfully sent home.
SCENE, cont'd | Abby remembers another P word, and poofs herself away. Elmo, Zoe and Alan become worried that she'll bring back another fairytale character, but instead, she floats on a pillow.
