SCENE Big Bird sips down a birdseed milkshake as he welcomes the viewer. He adds a special writer is visiting today - Mother Goose! Alan overhears and is enthralled; she's his favorite writer. He reads from one of her works he's in the middle of (Old Mother Hubbard), when Mother Goose (Tina Fey) arrives behind him. She encourages his compliments and even receives some (canned) applause. Big Bird assumes she'll be reading her famous rhymes for them, but she has something better - the actual characters to perform their rhymes!

4523d
SCENE cont'd Mother Goose's first guest is none other than Little Miss Muffet! A stagehand chicken wheels in her tuffet, which begins giving her a bad feeling. Alan deduces she's feeling anxious because she knows the spider will come and frighten her. Alan offers a strategy to help her calm herself down. Big Bird suggests Mother Goose write a new rhyme that makes Miss Muffet less anxious. Mother Goose has a mini-meltdown, until Alan has her calm down too. Mother Goose comes up with a new rhyme, where the spider invites Miss Muffet to play instead.

SCENE cont'd The next guest is Little Jack Horner. Alan finds out that he's feeling disappointed when he pulls out the plumb from his Christmas pie, as he's "plumb tired" of finding only plums. Alan does his calming strategy with Jack, and Big Bird suggests another change of his rhyme. Mother Goose freaks out, until she's calmed by Alan again. She changes the rhyme, so instead Jack gets to chow down on some Mexican food.
