COLD OPEN | Elmo announces we'll be seeing lots of dinosaurs and gets the viewer to roar like one.
SCENE | Elmo poses as a paleontologist, inspired by his book, When Dinosaurs Walked on Sesame Street. He tells the viewer they'll be seeing lots of dinosaurs, including Chris, who's dressed as a stegosaurus. The rest of the gang (Grover, Cookie Monster, Abby, Ernie, Bert, Telly, Rosita and Prairie Dawn) join as all types of dinosaurs as Elmo and Chris sing about the dinosaurs that walked on the street long ago. Afterward, Big Bird calls Elmo over to his nest, unable to find his dinosaur costume. Elmo is sure he'll find it and play dinosaur along with everyone else.
SCENE cont'd | Chris flips through the book, coming across an interesting fact - dinosaurs were both big and little. To emphasize this, Prairie (as a wannanosaurus) and Snuffy (an apatosaurus) sing about different sized dinosaurs. Elmo then checks in on Big Bird, who still can't find his costume.
SCENE cont'd | Next, Elmo leads a game of "Feed the Dinosaur." Abby (as a triceratops) and Cookie Monster (a T-rex) arrive, representing herbivores and carnivores (respectively). Grover the Dinosaur Waiter brings in some foods and the viewer guesses which dinosaur it would be eaten by. When the game is done, Cookie wants to convert to a "cookie-ivore" so he can eat his cookie.
SCENE cont'd | Big Bird comes by, upset because his costume is lost. Chris finds an interesting fact in the book - birds are descendants of feathered dinosaurs, meaning Big Bird himself is a dinosaur! He leads everybody on a musical walk around the street, since they can now see a real dinosaur walk on Sesame Street.
