SCENE 1 | Chris reads The Adventures of the Happy Little Train to Elmo, Rosita and Zoe, much to Oscar's dismay. Elmo wishes he had his own train and hastily creates his own train engine from ordinary objects. Zoe and Rosita join in with their own cars, becoming the passenger and conductor, respectively. Oscar can't stand seeing their Happy Little Train game and thinks of how to stop it. | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | Oscar points out that trains can't run without tracks. Luckily, Chris has a large piece of chalk on hand and draws them a set of tracks running from Oscar's trash can all the way down the block. | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | After Chris returns to work, the monsters bother Oscar further by singing their "Happy Little Train" song. They invite him to participate, but he wants no part in their business...until Zoe comes up with an ideal role for him - the grouchy ogre who gets in their way. Oscar agrees to this and the train sets off. | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | The Happy Little Train begins its journey to Hooper's Store, but the track is blocked by a group of sour pickles in the way. This is the work of the ogre (Oscar), who relishes in the role. When asking politely for the pickles to move fails, Elmo invites them to ride along with them. To Oscar's shock, the pickles agree and the train moves onto Hooper's. | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | The train makes its stop at Hooper's, where Chris is waiting with some food for them all. Oscar hopes they're quick about it, wishing to play some more, a notion that surprises Chris. | |
