SCENE 1 cont'd | Oscar sees Cookie Monster coming down the block and points the machine's wand toward him; the meter indicates that Cookie is feeling very happy because Chris is baking a fresh batch of cookies right now. Oscar doesn't like this development, but hears sounds of distress coming from Hooper's Store. He drags the machine with him to see that Chris accidentally burnt all the cookies. The machine shows Cookie is very disappointed now, to Oscar's delight. Chris calms Cookie down and tells him he already has another batch ready to be baked. To pass the time, he gives Cookie some paper to draw with and Oscar unintentionally gives him the idea to draw a cookie. The machine shows Cookie is feeling happy now. Suddenly, the store begins to shake, which gives Oscar the indication there's more disappointments to be found elsewhere...
SCENE 1 cont'd | Out in the yard, Big Bird and Snuffy stomp around in frustration. Chris calms them down and they explain their feelings - they were going to have a playdate today, but Big Bird remembered today is Granny Bird's birthday and he must pay her a visit. Oscar brings over his machine to see how truly disappointed they are. He sarcastically brings up the idea of rescheduling for tomorrow, an idea that makes the two very happy. Oscar is displeased he's ruined another disappointing situation.
SCENE 1 cont'd | Oscar finds Grundgetta and tells her to take the machine back, citing all the things that have happened today.
