Picture Segment Description
COLD OPEN Zoe, dressed as a chicken, sets up today's theme of chickens, with the aid of some other chickens.
SCENE 1 Chris, Elmo, and Abby observe an incubator, wherein six eggs are sitting. Elmo and Abby can't wait for the eggs to hatch and think getting some extra items (like Elmo's teddy bear or Abby's blanket) will help warm the eggs and speed up the process, but Chris says nature doesn't work that way.

SCENE 1 cont'd Ernie and Bert happen by looking for birds, which Bert is drawing in his bird journal. They join the others in waiting and watching the eggs, an exercise only Bert finds enjoyment in. Ernie panics at the mention that the eggs will take several days to hatch, wondering who will take care of Rubber Duckie while he remains by the eggs. Chris assures them all the eggs have already been sitting for awhile and should be hatching soon. Elmo produces an alarm clock to help wake them up, but again, Chris tells him that's not how the process works. He takes them to Hooper's Store to help pass the time.

SCENE 1 cont'd At Hooper's, everyone works on art projects related to chickens. Bert wants to make an image from feathers to go in his journal, but can't figure out the best way to begin. Meanwhile, Elmo makes a coop from popsicle sticks, Abby makes a chicken with pipe cleaners, and Ernie makes a picture with seeds and corn. He accidentally spills his glue all over the feathers, then sneezes them all over Bert. "Hey Chris, one of the chicks hatched," he jokes. He has indirectly created an image on Bert's paper, though.

SCENE 1 cont'd Everyone goes back out to watch the eggs some more. Abby takes Chris' idea to make time fly literally by magically sending Elmo's clock flying (and smashing on the other side of the street). Instead, they find another way to pass the time - by singing and dancing like chickens. Bert alerts them that the eggs are now beginning to hatch. They observe the new baby chicks, but Ernie notices one egg didn't hatch. Chris assures them that sometimes, not all eggs end up hatching, but they should be thankful for the chicks that have. As they keep watching, Ernie now jokes that the chicks think the feathered-up Bert is their mommy.
