SCENE 1 cont'd | As the story begins, Birdie (played by Big Bird) moves into a new nest near a castle. He goes inside to introduce himself to his new neighbor, when he's met with the castle owner - Beast. He commands Birdie to leave at once, but explains his backstory when Birdie mentions the word "friend." Beast was put under a witches curse and unless he can make a friend before all the coconuts from the coconut tree fall, he will remain that way forever. He tries forcing Birdie to be his friend, but Birdie informs him that's not how friendship works. Beast throws a tantrum, causing one coconut to fall from the tree. Beast then orders his door to lock, trapping Birdie inside the castle until they become friends. |

SCENE 1 cont'd | Beast soon begins crying, prompting Birdie to come back and perk him up with a hug. He then sings about friends and their feelings, causing Beast to feel a kind of happy he's never felt before. He realizes he has upset Birdie by keeping him trapped and orders the door to unlock. Birdie points out he just did a friendly deed and offers to be his friend. Beast then transforms into his original form: still a Beast, but his unkempt hair is restyled. Everyone concludes the story with a song and Big Bird tells his friends that Birdie and Beast remained "B.B.B.F.Fs" (Best Bird and Beast Friends Forever). |
