COLD OPEN | Elmo and Rosita set up today's theme of ramps, though neither of them knows exactly what a ramp is.
SCENE 1 | Elmo and Rosita have some ping-pong balls they want to play with, but since they don't know how to play the actual game, they decide to play catch with them instead. Elmo misses a catch and the ball rolls down the ramp leading out from the garden and it lands in a box by Nina. The monsters see this as a fun game and want to keep racing balls down the ramp (singing a short ditty about being ramp racers), but Nina points out that other people will need to get by and their game will get in the way. After their inspirational chant of "I Wonder, What If, Let's Try," they get the idea to make their own ramps out of the nearby cardboard intended to be recycled.
SCENE 1 cont'd | In the arbor, Nina, Elmo, and Rosita have made two sets of cardboard ramps for them to race with. Julia comes by just in time for the big race, as Nina assumes the role of race commentator. Elmo and Rosita drop their balls and Elmo's lands in the box first; a curious Rosita wonders why. Julia is the first to notice that Elmo's ramp is higher than Rosita's, thus allowed the ball to move faster. They adjust Rosita's ramp so that it's at the same starting point as Elmo's and both balls land at the same time. Julia wants to see more racing and Elmo proposes making even higher ramps, allowing for faster racing.
SCENE 1 cont'd | Elmo and Rosita's ramps now start at the edge of the garden, running all the way to the middle of the arbor. They race their balls again, only now Elmo comes in behind. Julia observes Elmo's track has bumpier cardboard and the instant replay shows this is what slowed Elmo's ball down. They replace part of the track with smoother cardboard and the monsters' balls tie once again. They then invite Julia to race with them while singing their "Ramp Racers" tune once more.
Insert | I Wonder, What If, Let's Try Elmo, Izzy, and Kate find that if they raise the height of their ramp, their toy car will run down it faster. Elmo then segues to the next segment...
Muppets | Elmo and friends sing and clap as they find out the letter of the day - R.
Film | R is for Ramps: a wheelchair-bound girl talks about the uses of ramps.
Cartoon | Magical Car Races: Elmo, Grover, and Cookie Monster use a ramp to race over a line-up of cars.
SCENE 2 | Elmo and a girl want to bring their wagon full of toys to the garden, but can't use the stairs. Fortunately, they can use the ramp instead. Elmo then segues to the next segment...
Cartoon | Abby's Amazing Adventures Basket takes Abby and Rudy to a carnival, where they must design a slide that will be the fastest.
Muppets | Elmo and Abby pose as astronauts and sing about finding the number of the day by counting Martians. Today, there are 16.
Muppets | Elmo's World (Monster Edition): Ramps
SCENE 3 | Elmo, Julia, and Rosita continue playing with their ramps and sign off. |
