COLD OPEN | Elmo and Rosita just finish singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider," and are starstruck about meeting the Itsy Bitsy Spider herself.
SCENE 1 | Rosita, Telly and Elmo are chanting "Isty Bitsy" while waiting for The Itsy Bitsy Spider to appear at the water spout. Chris arrives and requests they sing the song. Afterward, Chris returns to work, but the Itsy Bitsy Spider has still not arrived. Telly begins to freak out, thinking she may have gotten lost. Elmo calms him down and they decide to go look for her, but where do you find spiders? They recall seeing bugs around plants and dirt...the garden!
SCENE 1 cont'd | In the garden, the monsters look for the spider. They see a bug in the dirt, but learn it's a beetle. He tells them he's an insect (having six legs) and that spiders have eight legs (making them arachnids). They search some more thanks to that clue.
SCENE 1 cont'd | In another part of the garden, they spot another bug, who's really jumpy. They count his legs and discover he's not a spider, but a humble grasshopper. Before he goes off, he tells them that if he were looking for someone, he'd check their home. The monsters take his advice and look for where the spider lives.
SCENE 1 cont'd | They look for the spider's home, but aren't sure what it looks like. They find a hill of dirt and count the legs of the bug going inside it, which turns out to be an ant. He tells them that ants only live in anthills and spiders live in sticky stringy webs.
SCENE 1 cont'd | Farther down the street, they look for a stringy web. Telly gets caught in some sticky string and they follow it up to the web, hanging on the street sign. In the web is the Itsy Bitsy Spider! She explains she's too busy to perform her rhyme, as she's waiting for her egg sack to hatch. She sings a new rhyme to reflect this. The egg hatches and many little spiders flood out.
