COLD OPEN | Today's show is about airplanes, so Ernie shows off his paper airplane to Elmo.
SCENE 1 | Elmo, Abby, and Rudy are watching the clouds when they notice two airplanes, one of which is landing on Sesame Street. The three go to introduce themselves to the plane, Amelia (played by Stephanie D'Abruzzo), and they meet up with Chris. Rudy mentions that he has never been on a plane. Elmo wonders if they can make their own pretend plane.
SCENE 1 (cont'd) | Chris gets some cardboard boxes. He suggests using a big box as the body of the plane, then Elmo draws on windows. Abby mentions that they need something to make wings, to which Chris suggests using pizza boxes. All they're missing is a propeller...
SCENE 1 (cont'd) | Rudy gets really worried that they don't have a propeller (dubbed "cute spinny thingy"), but he calms down with deep breaths. Chris suggests making one out of cardboard, but they're all out. Rudy suggests using a tricycle wheel, but they can't seem to take off the wheel. Next, they try an umbrella, but Abby notices it doesn't look much like a propeller. Finally, they try a pinwheel from Abby's garden. After taking on more passengers (including Herry, two Anything Muppets, and a chicken), they play pretend plane and sing a song about planes.
Insert | I Wonder, What If, Let's Try Elmo checks in on Isaiah and Cate who are making paper airplanes and attempt to make one fly really far.
Muppets | Elmo and friends sing and clap as they find out the letter of the day - A.
Film | "A Is for Airplanes" -- A hip-hop song plays over footage of airplanes.
SCENE 2 | Elmo and Abby continue playing airplane where they pretend to go to the North Pole, when they hear a song...
Cartoon | Abby's Amazing Adventures Basket turns Abby and Rudy into baggage handlers and has them sort packages between those going to the beach and those going to the mountains.
Muppets | Elmo and Abby pose as astronauts and sing about finding the number of the day by counting Martians. Today, there are 20.
Muppets | Elmo's World: Transportation
