SCENE 1 | Elmo, Abby, and Charlie see a series of boxes with letters atop them set out in the yard. They find Big Bird and Snuffy are responsible, using them for their Alphabet Scavenger Hunt, which the others wish to play. They lay down the rules - they must find items, without using Abby's magic, that begin with all 26 letters before the sand in Big Bird's large hourglass runs out. To make sure all the letters are right, they sing "The Alphabet Song." |

SCENE 1 cont'd | The group first checks Hooper's Store, where Alan is serving Ducky (David Rudman) his usual corn on the cob. He permits the kids to borrow his bowl of fruit for the game and each item gives them a different letter, including the bowl. Ducky provides them with one of his corn cobs and asks to join the game. They all decide to split up to find things. |

SCENE 1 cont'd | Elmo and Charlie bother Oscar the Grouch for items. He refuses at first, but their insistence on using the word "please" is enough to make him relent. He provides a jelly jar, a stinky sock, and a water-squirting rose, which doesn't anger Charlie as he intended. |

SCENE 1 cont'd | Abby returns with some fairy tale items from home. Ducky brings over his friend, a goose (Jennifer Barnhart), who can fill three letter spots, to everyone's confusion. The goose itself stands for G, then it lays an egg and gives them one of its feathers. |

SCENE 1 cont'd | Time is running out, so everyone rushes to find more items to finish the scavenger hunt. Elmo recruits Ernie to give them his hat, then takes Bert's bowl of oatmeal (before he can finish eating it). Charlie and Abby get some more items, now leaving them four letters short. Ducky points out an incoming octopus one-man band (Tyler Bunch), who happens to have three instruments that fill the letters they need. With one letter left (W), Abby realizes her wand can help; not for magic, but to fill the W space. The gang successfully completes the hunt and wins their prize - a chance to sing "The Alphabet Song" again. |
