SCENE 1 cont'd | Todd meets Big Bird then shows him to the chickens where Lottie (Barnhart) is in the nesting box, unable to lay an egg. Todd isn't sure why, so Grover comes in to help. He sings a song to the chicken all about laying eggs to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," but Lottie is still unable to lay an egg. Grover then attempts to demonstrate how to go in the nesting box by going inside himself. When he's finally in, he points out how uncomfortable it is, and Lottie agrees. |

SCENE 1 cont'd | When Todd leaves, Grover and Big Bird start to wonder if there's any way to make the box more comfy. The two try different methods: Big Bird puts a blanket in the box, and Grover dresses up like a chicken and plays the trumpet, but neither of them work. Lottie then bawks to Big Bird that while it was kind for them to help, they should just give up. Finally, Big Bird points out that if he's a bird, and Lottie's a bird, the two should share seating preferences. Big Bird then notices he's been sitting on hay this entire time, so he uses that in the box. Lottie loves it, even laying an egg. The two and Farmer Todd then sing about the situation. |
