COLD OPEN | Elmo and a tomato (Pam Arciero) introduce today's theme of healthy food.
SCENE 1 | Today is Friday, and Abby and Rudy are impatiently waiting for Freddy to arrive from work. Every Friday, Freddy takes the kiddos to Crusty Charlie's for pizza. With Elmo, Abby and Rudy think about their favorite parts of Crusty Charlie's, including the band that would play music while they dine.
SCENE 1 cont'd | They spot Maggie and Freddy arriving from the Subway and get excited. The two sing a happy tune about their future pizza outing until their parents break the bad news to them: after an economic shutdown, the family is running short on money and they will not be able to eat out for a while. The kids are somewhat reluctant to this change, but the grown-ups assure their kids that they can still have pizza, just not at Crusty Charlie's.
SCENE 1 cont'd | The family sets up a picnic table at the garden and the kids begin to cheer up. Abby then wonders if they can pretend they're at Crusty Charlie's. Maggie adds on to this idea, having herself dress as a server and Freddy as a cook. The parents sing a tune about making the most of what they got, and later the kids join.
SCENE 1 cont'd | Maggie pretend-takes the kids' orders and the two eat pizza together. Rudy then has an idea: what if they switch roles and the kids now take the grown-ups' orders? Rudy then has the idea of creating a toy band to simulate the band of the ones you'd find in Crusty Charlie's. They play some games and finish off congratulating themselves on a wonderful pizza parlor. Freddy says that this place is even better than Crusty Charlie's. Abby agrees, adding that no matter what place they eat, it's great because they eat together.
