SCENE 1 | Elmo, Abby, and Gabrielle play a game of "Elmo Says." Elmo says, "jump in a pile of leaves" without leading with "Elmo Says," but Abby and Gabrielle do anyway and notice they both got leaves in their hair. Abby suggests playing hair salon, so they can both fix their hair. Elmo gets dressed up as Elmó, the greatest hairdresser in the world. Gabrielle thanks Elmo but states that her Auntie Kayla will do her hair today, as today is wash day. Gabrielle explains wash day to be a special time with her aunt, who washes her niece's hair once a week. Tamir arrives to talk about his experience with wash day. Elmo then asks Gabrielle to explain more about wash day... |

SCENE 1 cont'd | Gabrielle explains in an imagination sequence that first, Kayla gets everything ready in the kitchen and combs Gabrielle's hair. She then washes her hair with warm water and shampoo and sings the "Wash Day Song." Gabrielle says that the way Kayla rubs shampoo in her hair feels really nice. Abby relates, loving when her daddy Freddy puts shampoo in her hair, and her favorite shampoo smells like apples. Gabrielle says her favorite shampoo smells like vanilla, Elmo says his smells like strawberries, and Tamir says peppermint. Abby says that her stepdad rinses her hair, which is exactly what Gabrielle's Auntie Kayla does... |

SCENE 1 cont'd | Gabrielle explains that after Kayla rinses all the water out of her hair, she applies conditioning, which makes detangling her hair easier. Gabrielle explains that because her hair is curly, sometimes it wraps around itself and makes knots, and Abby relates, saying that knots are "not fun." Sometimes Kayla uses her fingers to detangle the knots, and sometimes she uses a comb. In the imagination sequence, Kayla sings the Wash Day Song once more. |

SCENE 1 cont'd | After detangling is bath time, which is followed by rinsing the regular condition from her hair and applying leave-in conditioner, detangling one more time. Kayla then puts avocado oil in her hair to make it softer and smoother. Then comes her favorite part, where she gets to pick a style for her hair. Kayla then arrives to pick Gabrielle up just in time. |
