Picture Segment Description
COLD OPEN Elmo introduces today's theme of engineering. Tamir reacts passionately, enthusiastically listing all kinds of things engineering is used to design.

SCENE 1 In the community garden, Gabrielle, Zoe, and Rosita hear a sad sound. It's Frankie, who wishes she could fly like a butterfly so she could play with her cousins who moved "far, far away." It is then revealed that "far, far away" refers to another planter in the same garden. Rosita points out that even though it seems really close to the three, it's really far for a little worm to squirm. Frankie explains how much of a journey it is for her, having to squirm all the way down her planter, over a watering can, across some rocks, around a hose, past a bucket of tools, and then up a rake and her cousins' planter. This is a problem, a problem for engineers.

SCENE 1 cont'd Rosita wonders: what if they use the catapult she apparently always carries around? The three try to catapult her over to her cousins, but she goes way too high and way too far. Frankie recalls seeing something big over the river, which Rosita teaches her to be a bridge, showing the worm various uses for bridges on her tablet. This gives the engineers the idea to build a worm-sized bridge out of sticks and glue for Frankie to see her cousins, a plan for which Rosita draws.
SCENE 1 cont'd The bridge is built...but it's too short, and the engineers realized they should have measured how long it needed to be. Zoe gives up, as well as Frankie's cousins, but Frankie and Gabrielle remind her that engineers never give up. Gabrielle realizes they still have sticks to spare, and the three use them to extend the bridge to the end of the planter, but not without measuring how many they need beforehand.

SCENE 1 cont'd The bridge is long enough, but before Frankie can go on it, they must conduct a safety test using a toy truck. The bridge passes, and Frankie uses it to successfully visit her cousins. The worms are then asked what they like to play together. The worms say they like to play music, and they put on a show.
