SCENE 1 cont'd | Elmo meets up with Mia and invites her to join Nina, Rosita, and Lalo, who are practicing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" in Spanish ("Cabeza, Hombros, Rodillas y Pies"). Elmo then leaves to help Ernie find a straw hat and bowtie for Rubber Duckie. As the group practices, Mia admits she's still learning Spanish, and doesn't know the Spanish words for eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. To help her out, Nina tells her the Spanish words one at a time. Mia thinks she's got it, but messes up when they sing the full song. She expresses frustration, especially because of how important the language is to her family. Nina assures her niece that she's special no matter how much Spanish she can speak.
SCENE 1 cont'd | Later, after Cookie Monster and Hoots' performance of "C Is for Cookie," it's Mia, Nina, and Rosita's turn to perform for Song Day. Mia remembers the words and sings the song perfectly to the delight of the crowd.
