SCENE Elmo, Abby, and Zoe are gathered together for the Sesame Street Races. They don't know what races they are yet, as Abby lists off different food themes, indicating she's hungry. Perfect timing, as Alan has lunch ready for everybody. He is serving them healthy sandwiches to fuel up on the energy needed to race. Elmo is excitedly thinking about what races it's going to be, and wonders if it will be a race car race. This leads to him imagining himself in the fastest race car ever.

SCENE cont'd In his imagination, Elmo sings "Just Imagine." He is driving in a speedy race car, with boosters attached as his car blasts into outer space, and over the moon, and into the finish line. The crowd chants Elmo's name until...

SCENE cont'd ...Abby snaps Elmo out of it, and tells him it's time for the races. Grover shows up as the referee, as he announces that the Sesame Street Races is about to begin. Elmo is excited to begin, but Alan stops him and reminds Elmo he hasn't eaten yet. Elmo tells Alan he will eat later, as he takes off. Alan is going to save the sandwich for him, but encourages him to come back and eat soon. Cookie Monster takes a look at the sandwich, as he asks Alan if he's going to finish it. Alan is enjoying the view of the races, as Cookie Monster continues looking at the sandwich.

SCENE cont'd Bubba Wallace is reporting live for the Sesame Street Races, as Elmo, Abby, and Zoe are in all three races. Grover announces that the winner of each race will receive a sparkly gold medal. Elmo really wants to win that medal. Grover announces that the racers will have to run all the way to the finish line, placed where Big Bird's nest is... with a chicken on their backs. Grover says chickens are fun, as Bubba concurs, saying everything is better with a little chicken. This prompts Felix the chicken to show up as a professional sports commentator. He's not supposed to pick favorites, but his mommy, Tiffany, is in the race, as she is Zoe's chicken. The race begins, and everyone races with chickens on their backs. Felix roots for his mommy, who is confused, as Zoe tries to give instructions to climb on her back.

SCENE cont'd During the race, Elmo begins to grow tired, as he starts slowing down, leading to Abby crossing the finish line. Elmo is disappointed that he didn't win, as his tummy starts to rumble. Grover rewards Abby with the first sparkly medal. Elmo gets annoyed that he didn't get to win that medal. But there's two more races to go, which means two more medals. Alan cheers for Abby, and when he sees Elmo, asks if he would like his sandwich. But Elmo declines, as he doesn't want to eat until he wins a medal. Alan promises to save it, as Cookie Monster tries to sneak Elmo's sandwich away from Alan. Cookie Monster acts nonchalant when Alan tries catching him, as Cookie Monster reads a newspaper upside down, and then starts painting a sandwich.

SCENE cont'd The second race is a spoon race, as they got to use a spoon to balance the egg all the way to the finish line. However, the eggs they're balancing are the same fully hatched chickens they had just raced with before. As the race begins, Zoe is having trouble carrying Tiffany on her spoon, as Felix cheers her on. Elmo, who really wants to win that second medal, grows tired again, leading to Abby crossing the finish line and winning the second sparkly medal. Elmo is annoyed he lost again, as his tummy continues to rumble. Grover announces that there's one more race, but Elmo grows discouraged, feeling like he is never going to win. He gives up and leaves the race.

SCENE cont'd Back at Hooper's Store, Alan cheers for Abby (while Cookie Monster is sneakily trying to take Elmo's sandwich in the background). Alan checks in on Elmo, as Elmo tells Alan he's done with racing, citing that he's tired and annoyed. Alan sympathizes, but encourages Elmo to eat his sandwich before he quits racing. Elmo wonders why that would help, as Alan informs him about how a sandwich can give your body energy. Cookie Monster tells Elmo about how his body can feel annoyed and tired when he doesn't eat. Elmo takes notice on himself as his tummy's been rumbling all day. Cookie Monster tells Elmo that he eats when he gets hungry, and hands Elmo the sandwich. Elmo agrees as he eats the sandwich as Bubba Wallace and the crowd watch. Felix asks, "Will he eat the pickle?" as the answer is yes. Now that Elmo finished the sandwich, he no longer feels annoyed, and now has lots of energy. As Elmo leaves, Cookie Monster is just left with an empty plate, as he eats it up. Alan tells Cookie Monster he could have asked for a sandwich, as Cookie Monster requests one.

SCENE cont'd The final race is about to begin, and it is a sack race. Zoe expressed her relief about Grover not saying anything about chickens, which gives him the idea of bringing chickens in this race. The race begins, as Zoe has trouble getting Tiffany to move. Grover informs her that Tiffany only speaks chicken, which Zoe happens to speak as she clucks to Tiffany (translates to "Let's go win this race!"). Tiffany excitedly takes off. During the race, Elmo and Abby are neck and neck, as Elmo has more energy than ever, but in the end, Zoe and Tiffany cross the finish line. Elmo congratulates Zoe on the race, and even though Elmo didn't win, he still had a lot of fun. Alan brings out a snack for everyone to refuel after all that racing. Cookie Monster doesn't have to be told twice, as he devours the entire plate from Alan. Bubba and Felix have their sandwiches, and when Cookie Monster asks Felix if he's going to finish his sandwich, Felix gives Cookie Monster the plate.

Cartoon Tales from 123: Finding Grover
Elmo is meeting Grover for a playdate, but when he gets to the meeting spot, and finds Grover isn't here, Elmo gets a call from the Mighty Monster Megaphone. Elmo is at the floor above Grover, and Grover is at the floor below. Elmo and Grover both tell each other in unison they will come to them. Now Elmo is below Grover, and Grover is above. They try again, and now they are far away from each other. Elmo gets discouraged, but Tango gets an idea: she gets a stop light, so Elmo and Grover can stop running. Grover sees Elmo and runs straight towards him, but the running crowd pushes Elmo away. Tango gets another idea, as she gets a leash from Elmo's unit, and has Elmo hold onto the leash until Tango finds Grover. She then uses the Mighty Monster Megaphone to tell Elmo to retract the leash while Grover grabs onto Tango. Grover is finally near Elmo. Now that their playdate can begin, Elmo asks what he wants Grover to play first. Grover suggests Hide and Seek.
