Ernie stands alone in a limbo space when he cups his ear, "Hark! That sounds like those crazy Honkers."
They enter the frame and Ernie takes a tally as the camera zooms in on each of them: blue with a green nose, magenta with an orange nose, and green with a yellow nose. As he announces that there are three Honkers, the trio begin honking and bouncing around as they arrange themselves in a different configuration. This happens twice, but no matter how they assemble, Ernie still counts three.
The Honkers leave the frame, and reappear upside-down at the top of the screen. Ernie cranes his head up and counts them again, coming to the same result. As he wonders how they got up there, he ends the segment with a honk of his own nose.
