Ezra Jack Keats (1916-1983) was an author and illustrator of children's books, beginning in 1960 with My Dog Is Lost. His books were among the first to use multiracial casts of characters. Many of the stories focused on a boy named Peter. Four of the books were featured at various times on Sesame Street, beginning in the first season.
