"Für Elise" is a popular piece of music written by Ludwig van Beethoven in 1808. Some debate exists as to where the name originates for the composer's Bagatelle in A minor, but the title translates to "For Elise."
Rowlf chose this as his piano solo for the UK Spot in episode 117 of The Muppet Show.
The opening notes of this piece are also heard as the introduction to the song "Eight Little Notes" on the album "Ol' Brown Ears is Back". Rowlf jokes that he doesn't know who the song was written "fur".
The opening notes of this piece are also heard on "The Sesame Street Podcast" about glockenspiels.
