The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) is a United States federal law enforcement body, which also serves to support national security and domestic intelligence. (International intelligence is the jurisdiction of the CIA).
The FBI, while available to assist state and local authorities, is generally involved when federal crimes are committed, including organized crime and violations of federal statues, as well as child kidnappings.
