Issue #3: Together Again for the First Time[]

Farscape SD cover-3a
Release Date: June 3, 2009

Crichton flees with Deke to a nearby Diagnosan enclave. There, he finds Grunchlk and Sikozu. They explain to him that a virus called the Whaela'an has taken hold of the galaxy. Grunchlk and Sikozu then take Crichton and Deke to a Diagnosan named Cotat.

At Cotat's facility, Grunchlk explains that the Whaela'an are a race of aliens who send out their virus (essentially smaller versions of themselves) so they can more easily take over planets. It is revealed that Cotat accidentally created the Whaela'an while experimenting with enlarging viruses in order to better study them.

Though Cotat has developed an antivirus, he has been unable to test it, because the virus attacks translator microbes, and Kalish (Sikozu's species) and Diagnosans don't have them, and Grunchlk is supposedly allergic. However, Crichton, who was injected with translator microbes in the first episode of Farscape, is the perfect test subject.

Crichton ultimately agrees to take the antivirus, and it works, but he must hurry back to Moya, because the final stage of the virus can lead to suicide. He leaves Deke behind so Cotat can run some tests to make sure he's healthy.

Issue #4: The Binds that Tie[]

Farscape SD cover-4a
Release Date: June 24, 2009

Crichton and Sikozu board Moya. Using Cotat's size-changing apparatus, Crichton shrinks down to a microscopic level and, with help from 1812, he and the antivirus are injected into Aeryn's bloodstream. The antivirus works, and Crichton goes around successfully curing the rest of the Moya crew (and Moya herself) of the Whaela'an. The antivirus is distributed across the galaxy, curing the Hynerians, Scarrans, and Peacekeepers.

When Crichton goes back to the Diagnosan enclave to pick up Deke, Grunchlk breaks the news that while Deke is a perfectly healthy Sebacean-Human hybrid, there is a mysterious gland on his fourth vertebrae that can't be removed without killing him.
