Figment is a purple dragon who serves as the mascot for the Imagination pavilion at Walt Disney World's Epcot theme park. He first appeared in 1983 as part of the Journey into Imagination ride, learning how to use his imagination from the Dreamfinder. In the following decades, he has appeared in updated versions of the original attraction, as a walk-around character (played at one point by Jeffrey Breslauer), animated for a series of educational shorts, and a number of other appearances in print media, video games, and merchandise. Originally voiced by Billy Barty, other actors have taken on the role including Corey Burton and Muppet performer Dave Goelz.
Figment has crossed over with the Muppets for collectibles including a D23 Vacation Kingdom Lunchbox from 2021 where he conducts a band featuring a Muppet penguin from Muppet*Vision 3D (and wearing the recognizable 3D glasses from the attraction), and The Muppets: Disney Parks Day pins in 2026 where he welcomes Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker to an open house for the glass pyramids of the Imagination ride.
Most notably, in a meta-reference to their shared performer, Gonzo appeared in a 2023 social media video in which he explains to Walter that he and Figment are old friends. After assuring Walter that Figment isn't merely a figment of the imagination, Gonzo shouts, "Hey, Figment! You still sound terrific!" (video)
