SCENE 1 After having breakfast with Linda, Maria strolls through the yard, where Crystal and Mario have set up a picnic for some visiting Martians. When Maria asks how they know this, Crystal counters, "How do you know they're not?" They set out a welcome sign written in an alien language, some food, and juice. Mario and Crystal head off, believing that Martians never attend picnics when people are present. Maria laughs at the situation, but curiously checks the sky as she heads into Hooper's Store.
