	SCENE 1	A painter (Ellen Greene) asks Oscar to keep an eye on her "WET PAINT" sign while she goes to get another paintbrush; Oscar reluctantly complies. David comes by and sees the sign, assuming it's part of Oscar's latest scheme, which Oscar denies. David picks up the sign and starts asking where the wet paint is, when the painter returns and admonishes David for ruining her sign. Oscar remarks, "That's what I like about life - things get all messed up sometimes without any effort at all."
	Cartoon	Kids count from 1 to 10, then 10 to 1, as the numbers are displayed over colored lights. (First: Episode 0931)
	Muppets / Cast	Ernie & Bert — Ernie and Bert go see a silent movie, "The Picnic" (starring Maria as Chaplin and Linda as the girl).

	Muppets	Cookie Monster asks Ernie if he has any cookies. Ernie says that he doesn't have any cookies but an apple and he can't give the apple to him because "an apple a day will keep the doctor away." Later Cookie Monster comes disguised as Doctor Monster and gives Ernie a medical checkup. After the checkup, Ernie asks what he owes Doctor Monster. By sheer coincidence, his bill is one apple. 	SCENE 3	Susan finds it odd when Oscar describes what a wonderful day it is today. She soon learns his positive disposition is because today is "Trumpet Afternoon," the day Bob gives trumpet lessons. She and Olivia are unnerved by the loud, amateur trumpet blasts coming from Bob's apartment, which even causes the two to argue (to Oscar's delight).

	SCENE 4	Big Bird swings past Susan's window as she prepares to close it in order to block out the sounds of the trumpet. During a quiet lull in a lesson, Big Bird wonders if they can simply tell Bob about the bothersome noise. He starts to imagine doing so...
	SCENE 4 cont'd	In Big Bird's imagination, Bob doesn't take their complaints well and tearfully declares that he must move away from Sesame Street in order to give lessons that won't disturb his friends and neighbors.
	SCENE 4 cont'd	Big Bird proposes they find a way to block out the sound instead, suggesting covering their ears. He imagines another scenario, where Susan and David cover their ears to block the trumpet sounds. However, this prevents them from properly communicating and prevents Susan from carrying her groceries.
	SCENE 4 cont'd	Big Bird comes to realize the only practical solution is for Susan to shut her window, which she agrees with. Big Bird remarks that he finds the trumpet sounds rather enjoyable.

	SCENE 5	David and Oscar listen to the sounds of Bob's trumpet lesson. David comments at how well the student is getting, which Oscar thinks will ruin the joy of "Trumpet Afternoon." He's further annoyed when David compliments the young student after her lesson is over. Suddenly, Dizzy Gillespie takes the seat next to Oscar, who thinks his bent trumpet might make for some poor performance. A star-struck David asks him to play something and Dizzy blows out a jazzy tune on his horn. Oscar isn't as impressed as David.
