Katsuya is a Japanese restaurant chain popular for its sushi, operated by Chef Katsuya Uechi. It is based in California with several locations in Los Angeles as well as a number of international venues.
Yolanda books a reservation at the restaurant in The Muppets episode "The Ex-Factor" as part of Kermit's date with Denise for her birthday. Yolanda further informs him that although she expressed a wish to not receive gifts, Denise is expecting one. Kermit recruits Miss Piggy to procure a gift for him, which he gives to Denise at Katsuya after stalling and ordering several follow-on menu items.
In order to accommodate the actors and Muppeteers, a reasonable facsimile was produced with movable floors.[1] To celebrate the episode, on November 3rd 2015 and through the rest of the week, one of the LA locations sold special sushi rolls named after Kermit and Miss Piggy:[2]
- Miss Piggy roll: Shrimp tempura, avocado, and cucumber seaweed rice, topped with spicy albacore sashimi, ichimi, pepper, and garlic soy butter frise salad
- Kermit roll: Avocado, asparagus, cucumber, and seaweed rice, topped with salmon sashimi and onion ponzu seared dynamite sauce
