SCENE 1 | As the evening winds down on Sesame Street, Maria tries to study at the Fix-it Shop, though her headache is making it difficult. The Count arrives to count some nails, but instead decides to give her a few helpful tips in nursing her headache. He ends up counting each of his remedies as he lists them, and Maria believes the Count is only doing this so he has something to count and doesn't care about her issue at all. She tells him to leave, stating it might make her feel better. The Count exits, sadly hoping that Maria feels better soon, as she gives the Count's recommendations a try.

The detective observes some strange three-toed footprints along the street, emanating from a nearby mud puddle. Big Bird recognizes the puddle as the one he just stepped in, but Sherlock interprets this as Big Bird making the monster mad enough to leave his puddle. They see that the "Monster's" footprints lead right into Hooperโs, but since Big Bird didn't see it, Sherlock assumes the Mud Puddle Monster must be invisible as well. Big Bird begins to panic when he learns that the "Monster" must still be inside since there are no footprints coming out of the store and calls for David, but David sets the record straight on whose prints they really are. Sherlock thinks he has finally solved the case: Big Bird must be the Mud Puddle Monster! Sherlock exits, satisfied with his cleverness as David and Big Bird argue whether Big Bird is the supposed "Monster."
