Squarespace is a New York City-based web hosting company founded in 2004.
On November 25, 2019, the company published a two-and-a-half minute video entitled "A Cautionary Tale"[1] starring Oscar the Grouch. (YouTube) In the video, a passerby mistakes Oscar's junk pile for high art and, by using a Squarespace site to showcase it, he becomes an overnight sensation (to his dismay). The video, directed by Jim Jenkins,[2] was partially filmed on location at the Museum of the Moving Image.
In conjunction with the video, a real version of Oscar's website was launched. The site offered 25 limited-edition art capsules created in Oscar's name by artist Justin Gignac[1] for purchase; all proceeds went to Sesame Workshop.
