Sesame Street - Fireside Christmas Story with Cookie Monster
"Fireside Christmas Story with Cookie Monster" is a video that premiered on SesameStreet's YouTube Channel in 2016. (YouTube) The video was published to sesamestreet.org (sesamestreet.org) and repurposed as a Facebook live video during the Christmas season in 2020.
Broadcasting from a living room with a fireplace decorated for the holidays, Cookie Monster wakes up from napping under a blanket in his chair to explain that he's waiting for the arrival of Santa Claus. He's baked him some Christmas cookies from his mommy's recipe, but he's having trouble keeping himself from eating them.
To distract himself, he reads "A Visit from St. Nicholas" with animated appearances by a mouse, anthropomorphic sugar plums, and his mommy. Santa Claus also appears during the story in silhouette, flying by Cookie Monster's window, calling out his reindeer.
At the finish of his reading, Cookie Monster forgets himself and eats the cookies anyway. Scrambling to find something else to leave for Santa, Cookie Monster considers a tiny "ugly" sweater, before settling on gifting him his mommy's cookie recipe. While Cookie Monster focuses off-camera for Santa, Saint Nick himself appears in the room, taking the recipe, and leaving a present for Cookie Monster.
Following the close of the Moore's poem by Santa in voiceover, Cookie Monster returns to his blanket and chair, and falls back asleep. A Facebook live video published on Christmas Eve streamed eight hours of Cookie Monster sleeping and snoring after this point. [1]
