Flanders and Swann was a British comedy team who wrote and performed comedic songs and two-man revues, reaching their heights between 1957 and 1967. Michael Flanders wrote the lyrics, offered comedic asides and introductions, and often sang lead vocals, while pianist Charlie Swann composed, accompanied, and joined in any duets.
The pair's first revue, At the Drop of a Hat, opened in 1957 and played in England, the US, and Switzerland. The revue, and the record album preserving it, introduced songs used on The Muppet Show including "A Transport of Delight" and "The Gnu." Years earlier, selections from At the Drop of a Hat were played on Sam and Friends.
