Plot | Was bin ich? |
Air date | January 31, 1981 |
The cast of the game show Was bin ich? (the German version of What's My Line?) visit the studio. Host Robert Lembke moderates two rounds, both of which challenge the panelists to identify the occupations of performers who normally work unseen on Sesamstrasse itself. For the first round, the guests to be identified are the main character's puppeteers: Peter Röders (Samson), Kerstin Siebmann-Röders (Tiffy), and Benita Steinmann (Bödefeld).
For the second round, the Muppets themselves participated, blindfolded, in identifying guest Gerd Duwner, with whom they'd previously interacted that season (Folge 0654). The questioning relied on identifying his wider Sesamstrasse role as the dubbed voice of Ernie.[1]
Regular Was bin ich? panelists who participated included Hans Sachs, Anneliese Fleyenschmidt, and Guido Baumann (head of entertainment at Schweizer Fernsehen, the German-language TV division of the Swiss broadcasting company).
Notes[]
- Was bin ich? (literally translated as What am I?) was initially titled Ja oder Nein (Yes or No) and was one of the earliest German TV hits, running from 1955 to 1958. It was revived under the better known name from 1961 to 1989, and then again from 2000 to 2005.
- Since Robert Lembke was Germany's best known game show host, Guy Smiley was renamed Robert on Sesamstrasse as a cultural reference.
