Finchen is reading a book about a "Waldschrat" (wild man) and really wants to meet one, since they take care of the forests. Suddenly Finchen notices a man who presents himself as Waldi, the "Waldschrat". Waldi is impressed that Finchen knows about his kind. It turns out that Waldi is looking for a forest; he has just graduated and has never seen a forest but knows all about them.

Scene
Finchen asks Waldi what he has learned at the "Waldschrat" school. Waldi lists various things, such as the fact that the forest is important, it needs protection, it improves the air, it's wonderful and humans like to take walks in it. Finchen tells Waldi that when he is looking for a forest, all he needs to do is look for a place that has many trees. Waldi thinks that sounds very smart, but what does a tree look like?

Scene
Finchen describes a tree to Waldi by telling him that a tree has a large trunk that points up in the air and Waldi goes looking for such a thing. Waldi finds a broom on Nils' truck that fits the description. Finchen then adds green to the description and Waldi quickly concludes that the Sesamstrasse sign must be a tree. Finchen describes a tree again for Waldi, this time in more detail than before, and then leads Waldi to the Sesamstrasse forest. Waldi is excited to have finally found his very own forest.

Scene
Finchen and Waldi sing a song about how wonderful a forest is. After the song Waldi thanks Finchen, but before he leaves he tells Finchen that her leaf pile must have come from the trees and therefore she protects the leaves. As Waldi exits, Finchen then wonders if that would make her a "Blattschrat".
