Hiroyuki Kawase was allegedly in a Japanese version of Sesame Street
Okay, this is an odd topic.
In a book about Japanese monster movies, there was an anecdote about Hiroyuki Kawase (who acted as a child actor in "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" and "Godzilla vs. Megalon") was a main actor in a Japanese Version of Sesame Street.
Now I've found an IMDB page (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0329950/?ref_=ttco_ov) and a entry on Kinorium (https://en.kinorium.com/2899424/) for a 1972 show called "Ôpun sesamei" ("Open Sesame" transliterated into Japanese) which was apparently an official adaptation of Sesame Street that aired on Fuji TV starting in 1972 and starred Hiroyuki Kawase.
I'm not sure what to make of all this. John Pannozzi (talk) 16:57, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- It's IMDb nonsense which was copied to other sites (including the cast dates indicating the show continued into 1986). Not sure what the date of the book you read was, but presumably they too took it from the internet. None of the various Japanese film databases nor Japanese Wkipedia (while I wouldn't normally cite them, feels appropriate here) have any entry for such a show or such a credit for Hiroyuki Kawase. It's like way back when IMDb had an entry for a fake Japanese Fraggle Rock claiming the local actor played an artist as a Doc counterpart. -- Andrew
