I've put out some feelers to try and verify the claims made by the people who emailed Matthew, and I'll update here if and when I find anything. β€”Scott https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/muppet/images/8/89/Adminsig.png/revision/latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 13:00, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

:To spell out some of the language qualifiers, while the headline uses "Solved," the blurb on the main page says "And now we might know just who did it!" The article continues with "[may] very well have been solved!", doesn't quote the family communication directly, says Henson Co. couldn't corroborate, and says " It’s the closest answer we’ve had in forty years!" before leaving an e-mail address for more info. So it's a possible or even plausible theory, but one of the last sentences refers to Kale's "likely connection," again showing it's a theory or lead right now. We can't cite that. As Scott said, hopefully at some point there's something that can be cited, but right now, it's the same as other sites which we aren't closely associated used as a source: the statement has to be verifiable. -- Andrew 22:34, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Article Content > Charles Grodin was dubbed

Participation in the Muppet Wiki Forums requires a full understanding of the Rules and Etiquette.

Recently, our friends at ToughPigs.com ran an article about the uncredited vocalist who dubbed Charles Grodin in The Great Muppet Caper. If you read Matthew's article, you'll see that he uses language that establishes that this information is not definitive. Also, he confirmed on the TP forum that he never got a follow-up from the blind letter he received to confirm the identities of the claimant. There are a few problems with this, mainly that anyone could make this claim, but also poor memories of extended family members, etc. If you listen to the audio samples, the voice in GMC does sound like Stuart Kale; but honestly, a lot of tenors sound alike by design. Andrew and I discussed this off-wiki, and we agree we need some confirmation to meet Muppet Wiki's standards for sourcing information.

Before adding this here, please be sure to discuss. Articles this affects:

To spell out some of the language qualifiers, while the headline uses "Solved," the blurb on the main page says "And now we might know just who did it!" The article continues with "[may] very well have been solved!", doesn't quote the family communication directly, says Henson Co. couldn't corroborate, and says " It’s the closest answer we’ve had in forty years!" before leaving an e-mail address for more info. -- Andrew Emoji-droolAdminsig 22:34, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
