Hello, I'm have been curious about if Dance Along! did get a release by Sony Wonder despite having a LV number and a claim to have been released in 1995. I haven't found anything through online auctions or even an image and using the wayback machine to see Sony Wonder's online catalog, it doesn't have it listed. So, is it even real? Well, for what it is, it seems someone captured their personal copy of the tape of the beginning and ending opening/closing previews VHS (as seen here) but claimed to be from 1999. So it seems like this one is on the harder to find side. MackAttack92 (talk) 20:58, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
While he's largely inactive on the wiki now, the user that added the release (User:ErnieBert) did a significant amount of research into domestic and international releases of music and videos. He undoubtedly had a source when it was added, even if he didn't have a copy to scan the cover from. It can be trusted. -- Zanimum (talk) 00:13, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
I did some further research on the supposive Sony Wonder VHS re-release of this video via Newspapers.com and there's nothing on the Dance Along video, just newspapers ads for (in no chronological order by any means):
"Kids' Guide to Life" (all 3 videos in separate articles)
"Imagine That!"
"Elmocize"
"Slimey's World Games"
"Do the Alphabet"
the Best of videos (didn't see the name so it could be either the Ernie and Bert or the Elmo best of video)
and "William Wegman's Mother Goose".

And not one single match of "Dance Along!" anywhere. I even did the 1995-1999 range when i searched it up! - Wiggles Fan est. 2001 (talk) 00:31, 12 March 2023 (UTC)
I don't know how to post a picture, but I've seen copies of the Dance Along video that have the Random House logo on the front, but they have the Sony Wonder barcode on the back, and it's not a sticker. From what I've seen, they actually reprinted the box with a new barcode, so that means that Sony must have taken over production at some point. While it's not exact, you can approximate when the new VHS came out, because the LV catalog numbers are in the same series as the CD's and cassettes during this period. I'm not sure if the Sony DVD has 1 or more copyright year (1 for the actual material, and 1 for the packaging), but that would have been released later, because I don't think DVD's came out until 1997. Anyway, I'll see if I can link to a copy on eBay, and maybe somebody can pull it for reference. Thanks! Ken (talk) 03:40, 1 April 2023 (UTC)
Okay, I found 2 items on eBay that show the front, back, and sides. The Sony issue still shows the Random House logo on the front, but the LV 51242 catalog number on the side, and the Sony barcode on the back, which always starts with 7464 (or at least it did back then). The original Random House edition is here, and the Sony edition is here. I still can't tell exactly what year these were reissued, though. Sometimes blocks of numbers were reserved out of order. The Sesame CD's in 1995 were already starting with a 6, and I found that Kenny Loggins's Return to Pooh Corner video was LV 49308 in 1996, so I'm guessing that this came after that. They might have released blocks of numbers knowing Sony was going to reissue old titles. I can't remember when Sony started issuing new Sesame video titles. And then the DVD of this wasn't released until 2003, and we have the front and back cover of that on the wiki. Anyway, this is probably more than you ever wanted to know about catalog numbers and barcodes, but it's nice to know there is proof that Sony did reissue most of the pre-Sony videos on VHS and DVD.
