It may not feel like it, but it's already been over two years since we last touched on this topic (and who knew then that we wouldn't be getting a new Thog series!).

With an explosion of Fraggle content forthcoming—and yet keeping our recast conditions from last time in mind to ground us—I think it's high time we add John Tartaglia to Gobo's performer box, as his casting predates the new series and now meets the requisite timespan and prominence.

I'm currently mixed on emphasizing the other recasts for the near future. A thirteen-episode season of Fraggles is certainly more substantial than any sparse content featuring the recast likes of Robin or Mumford, and yet, I think longevity (whether it gets more seasons, and if there are potential re-recasts) factors into considering these major enough to highlight. Does our criteria of five years/productions apply here, or should we lessen because it's a series? Where do we stand on this? — Jon latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 20:30, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

I'm inclined to add John to Gobo's performer box. I'm not sure about the others; Wembley has had two different performers in the last two years (one is obviously more prominent, though). I think maybe if/when a secons season of the show gets greenlit we can consider it more. - Shane latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 20:43, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
Likewise agreed that John Tartaglia as Gobo meets all the critera we've set. The first season hasn't dropped yet and we're missing cast info still, so at the very least I'd say none of the other boxes should be changed until all the episodes are available. I'm kind of inclined to go with Shane, that a second season would be more useful, and for now do casting histories. In particular, the Gorg boxes could pose a challenge. Someone tried to change Junior Gorg and that resulted in five names and also a mess because they kept putting in Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock rather than a season or year as we usually do. The Gorg performers, and a few others mostly secondary, changed over the course of the original series, and right now it wouldn't shock me if we find some changes even within this first season.
So Gobo, as the most prominently used Fraggle in other contexts and the most consistently performed apart from original performer continuity (hi, Karen Prell!), I vote yes. The rest, wait and see (especially as, given the new "Doc," we're likely to have Nanny/Miss Nanny situations where there's an equivalent character not meant to be the original, and so on). Since Goelz is still voicing his characters, casting history feels like the best way to handle those anyway until a span becomes really notable or vocal work done (how we handled Big Bird for some time, for example). -- Andrew Emoji-droolAdminsig 20:49, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
I think it would be appropriate to include all the new performers in the character boxes. We established rules for recasts mostly with the idea that they were happening sporadically in random talk shows, background cameos, and other minor appearances over the course of a handful of years. Back to the Rock is a new, major TV show and it doesn't feel right to not have the new performers listed there. —Scott latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 18:14, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
Now that the second season is forthcoming, I think we should restart this discussion. If we do decide to put the current Back to the Rock performers in the character boxes, I think we should say Jordan's starting point with Wembley was 2021, because that teaser that came out that year had footage made specifically for it that wasn't in the show. Also Johnny T's Sprocket was in a Christmas video released on YT in 2021, so I think we should say that's when he started playing Sprocket. I don't think we should count Donna's starting point with Mokey as 2012 because, she didn't talk. Just like how we don't count Frank's starting point with Piggy as 1974, since in her first appearance, she just lip-synced to a song. Kathy's last performance of Mokey was 2013, cause there's video evidence of it. As for the Gorgs, I think it's okay to take the body performers out of the boxes, and just list them in the article text. Casual readers will just be focused on who the face and voice is. 2016 would be a good starting point for Donna's tenure as Mokey IMO. She performed Mokey at a live event honoring Dave Goelz. Agreed with all your points. Trevor807 23:47, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Are editors allowed to start moving forward with this? It's a major show with two seasons already; I think we can confidently say that these are officially the current performers. --GrantHarding (talk) 18:40, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

Before proceeding, the only thing I think we need a verbal consensus on is how to handle the Gorg performers. Simplifying to just face/voice performers might be a good solution then list the others in casting history sections. Otherwise, I would also be okay with updating for main characters. — Jon latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 19:12, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
