Good news everybody. By an absolute fluke I have discovered that the Great Santa Claus Switch was shown in New Zealand on Christmas Eve 1971. Do we have any information about it being shown in any other countries outside the USA? David French (talk) 21:41, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Hey David, what would be your source on this? I think that would be worth noting on the Santa Claus Switch page if it could be cited. I noticed you had been asked to supply info on another thread you started but didn't reply yet, so thought I'd mention it. — Jon latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 21:52, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/CHP19711216.2.31.5 https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/press/1971/12/24/4 Papers Past is a web site that has scanned copies of old New Zealand newspapers. In terms of the years since television first came to New Zealand (1960) the only newspaper that they have is for the Christchurch area, and while TV in New Zealand was regional until 1973, you do get a general idea as to when certain TV series came out to my country. In terms of the other thread, the country in question was New Zealand. I framed my post that way as I (understandably) figured that people would "twig" that I was referring to my own country. In other words, I wasn't playing a "guessing game" but making a facetious post. I will be posting my findings on Muppet Central; I've been double-checking things as there were a few anomalies/mistakes that needed clearing up. David French (talk) 04:11, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
Good stuff! But as Jon indicated, David, we understand your wanting to inject humor (we all do that), but other editors don't always double check where each user comes from (which usually requires either knowing the user more personally or remembering messages where they may have indicated it). So next time it would be less confusing if you just share your information more directly. Thanks!
As for Great Santa Claus Switch, I'm thinking it would fit in to Notes. I know I haven't stumbled on any indication of it being dubbed and imported anywhere (Ed Sullivan company's involvement would have limited that anyway). As for other English language counties, Canada seems the most likely (since it was taped at CTV station CFTO in Toronto), but I haven't found any hints of it. -- Andrew Emoji-droolAdminsig 04:40, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
