Forum:Muppet Mayhem facts vs jokes

There’s a lot to unpack in The Muppets Mayhem, and as eager as I am to add new info to the pages it connects to, I wonder how much of it is actually a joke for comedic relief and how much is actually worth adding. Such facts including Animal’s backstory, Janice’s allergies to lying, Floyd’s perfectionism, Dr. Teeth’s parents, Lips’ celebrity connections, and Zoot’s… um… innie and outie? All jokes aside, how do we determine what to add to pages connected to the show and what not to add? - Zach talk 22:22 May, 10 2023.

Given the lack of real Muppet canon, I think we should try to contextualize any "facts" and where they came from. Just as we would do to a claim that Gonzo is an alien, or Kermit and Fozzie are identical twins, or Rowlf owns and runs a tavern, or Scooter has a fear of public speaking, or Fozzie has a baby brother named Freddie, or all of the Muppets live together in a New York City apartment together, or whatever.

Simply stating that "Dr Teeth's full name is Gerald Teeth Jr" and presenting it as a univiersal truth without contextualizing it isn't helpful to a reader. However stating "In The Muppets Mayhem it is revealed that he was born Gerald Teeth Jr, son of dentist Tina Teeth and her husband Gerald" is better. If any of these traits do become recurring throughout future productions and appearances, and they become lasting universal "facts" about the characters, then we adjust and recontexualize accordingly. -- BradFraggle (talk) 16:25, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
