According to Rolling Stone, My Morning Jacket was recruited for The Electric Mayhem Tour but the project was scrapped when the exec in charge was fired; and then they were recruited again for The Muppets (2011) but their ideas were rejected. As Jim James said to Rolling Stone: twice Muppet glory was within his grasp.
However the information we currently have on these collaborations (spread across 6 pages) seems to have some contradictions regarding which songs were for the tour and what was for the movie.
- Out of My System - the pages for the song, James, and the tour all say it was written for the tour; as does Rolling Stone and MTV interviews.
- Wonderful - the song page says it written for the 2011 movie; but the pages for James and the tour say it written for the tour. Rolling Stone and MTV interviews also say it was for the tour too.
- Friends Again - the song page says it written for the 2011 movie; but the tour page say it was written for the tour. No mention on James page at all, nor is it referenced in the Rolling Stone article (but MTV says it was for the tour).
- Man or Muppet - the song page and Jim James article say a demo was written for 2011 movie; and confirmed by NYTimes interview.
We seem to be blurring which songs were the tour and which were for the movie (particularity "Wonderful" and "Friends Again")... or were they were pitched for both projects? Would it make more sense to just merge the 3 unfinished songs into the tour page (as it seems they were all intended for that project)? Aside from the rejected demo for Man or Muppet, do we know the titles of any of the other songs pitched for the 2011 film? - BradFraggle (talk) 18:18, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
