Looking for input regarding the content currently in the sandbox for Jack-o-lanterns. Given the potential overlap with Pumpkins, I’m wondering whether this should be developed to stand as its own article or be integrated as a section of the Pumpkins article.

The current pumpkins article mainly focuses on pumpkin characters (with 4+ unique Muppet pumpkin puppets recycled across the Muppets and Sesame franchises in various roles). Does the subject of jack-o-lanterns have enough unique relevance to warrant a standalone article, or would it be better to incorporate the information into the broader topic of pumpkins? Looking forward to other's thoughts and suggestions on how we best carve out our coverage of Muppet pumpkins this Halloween season! 🎃 -- BradFraggle (talk) 20:42, 14 October 2024 (UTC)

I think a lot of it is categorization. Pumpkins is listed as Muppet characters. The jack-o-lanterns assembled would not be. We could cheat slightly and put in "Halloween Characters," even if they're just props or merchandise (we may be close to creating a "Halloween Lists" subcat; I've had haunted houses on my todo list and mind, and we already have Mad scientists), but they're not Muppet characters. I feel like the "Cårven Der Pümpkîn" thing (they become pies, not jack-o-lanterns, whatever the original intent) doesn't need to be on two pages.
Jack-o-lanterns still needs some trims or adjustments (one issue with some of these pages, hot dogs still needs some clean-up is "So and so eats this/has this/carves this" in text, and then repeated in the gallery, or the exact same text appearing in two articles; we only really need it in one place, the gallery if it's mostly visual, the list if we're tracking things like occupations and so on). The Beaker example could use a visual (since that's a little more than just a background prop, that could go in text and in gallery). But I think this could work. It's definitely a good seasonal idea! -- Andrew Emoji-droolAdminsig 23:13, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
P.S. I did a little clean-up on pumpkins. I'd say move all the jack-o-lantern stuff to the jack-o-lantern page, and that would include the carving kits and Pumpkin Push In (they're just Mr. Potato Head variations of jack-o-lanterns, rather than "characters as pumpkins.") Put the merchandise examples under merchandise on jack-o-lanterns. That distinguishes the two articles and tidies up the galleries a bit. -- Andrew Emoji-droolAdminsig 23:35, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
Great points! I agree categorization plays a role in keeping the pages organized, especially distinguishing basically holiday props from Muppet characters. As you said, there's some overlap or grey areas that still need to be sorted out. Thanks for the clean-up—anyone else who wants to jump in and re-shape or polish things feel free! -- BradFraggle (talk) 00:29, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
I did some more sprucing on both. I think jack-o-lanterns is ready unless you have more to add or fiddle with, Brad. As it stands, overlap or repetition is now kept to a minimum and only when unavoidable (i.e. the Muppet Babies character Jack). -- Andrew Emoji-droolAdminsig 22:00, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
Looks gourd to me! You really carved everything out nicely and made sure nothing got squashed. I think it's good to glow. Thanks! -- BradFraggle (talk) 00:33, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
