Following up from Thread:275828 in which Shane said "how many near misses are we willing to collect? It happened in pretty much every episode he was in for over 10 years."

I've moved everything from the "Near Misses" section of the Mr. Snuffleupagus article to a sandbox page at [[Sandbox:Snuffy's near misses]]. Shane's right, if this is essentially a Snuffy filmography, we should just make it that and point out the near misses where appropriate.

Concerning the topic of that original thread, Snuffleupagus sightings could be ready for prime-time with a few tweaks. Obviously this is a much more finite list than the "misses" list.

Finally, just a general note about article structure, I just did a major re-arranging to work some of the bulleted list items from "Notes" into the narrative of the article. We should discourage the practice of letting these lists build up every time an editor has a new thought to add to an article. In most cases, these anecdotes can and should be worked into the existing copy, although I understand that takes a bit more finesse than just dumping a fact on at the end. Hopefully my latest edit to Snuffy is a good example of how that can be done. —Scott latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 22:49, September 23, 2020 (UTC)

The sightings page is fine by me to make real. Near misses seems so unwieldy and pointless to me; there's very few unique ways that they actually miss him beyond "He leaves before anyone else gets to where he is." It'd be like tracking every time the Count's thunder and lightning happened; it was just the shtick he'd have every time he appeared. The thing that might be of interest is when there's an actual clue left behind or they hear his voice on the telephone or something. - Shane latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 23:02, September 23, 2020 (UTC)
On the subject of Notes, the heading originally replaced Trivia, which also was tending to accumulate. It tends to work best when it is behind the scenes, referencing something from a script draft or whatever, or for something oddball that doesn't fit. Sam the Eagle#Notes is good usage. Telly Monster is so so to okay usage (some of it could go in a behind the scenes section, but there's no "Telly did this in this episode" stuff). Big Bird definitely needs work (some of it belongs in the existing performance section, the Deal or Deal appearance is oddly singled out, and the feathers bit is a whole paragraph which could presumably fit in somewhere). The memorial and weight notes might remain as notes. Miss Piggy is just random, from international stuff (which generally belongs in notes) to the fact that Uncle Deadly mentioned her being in a Junior Corn Pageant, with the "Miss Piggy's Fame" gallery as a subsection of it. -- Andrew Emoji-droolAdminsig 23:04, September 23, 2020 (UTC)
As for the sightings, I worked an instance into the relevant section, and some more specifics on the bad timing (that most of the time he just goes home). -- Andrew Emoji-droolAdminsig 01:42, September 24, 2020 (UTC)
