The Tarnish Brothers are named such because that's how they're credited on The Count Counts; no other scripts use that name for the appearances we have listed (save for recycled dialogue in Episode 1045). In Episode 0734, Big Bird calls them "The Happy Squares." Since that name predates the one we have, should we move the page or keep as is? - Shane latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 16:42, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

That makes sense to me. The Count Counts dialogue and album liner notes have joke names for the singers, many of which don't correspond to who sang it on the show, so I'd say the earlier script takes priority. -- Andrew Emoji-drool.gifAdminsig.png 00:55, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
I'm not so sure. Does the dialogue for episode 1045 use those other names from the album? And out of curiosity, does the script for 0734 name the characters? -- Tony (talk) 01:04, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
The script for 0734 only says "Muppet Chorus" for the opening; for the ending, the script only lists two lines for Big Bird, but the aired version has him acknowledging one by one the cast for his show. 1045 uses all the same gag names because it's using the dialogue straight from the record. - Shane latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 01:10, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, Episode 1045, see the note at the bottom of the page, "the dialogue is lip-synced to that of the album." So it's not just the same lines, it's the same tracks, and why Shane wasn't really counting it in the first post. -- Andrew Emoji-drool.gifAdminsig.png 01:17, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
I'd say that the original name would win over then, similar to how Furline Huskie became Max when his original appearance was found. -- Tony (talk) 01:25, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
That's a good example of precedent. - Shane latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 02:08, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
I forgot we seemed to reach a consensus on this. But also I found in stuff from the Tony Geiss papers listing AM outfits, and one is for "The Smarmy Brothers Trio - 30's tuxes," which seems to match what these puppets wear. I'm still in favor of the original name, though. - Shane latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 21:21, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
The first name used via dialogue in an episode would outdo a jokey name on an album, I would say. —Scott latest?cb=20200820192427 (talk) 23:08, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
