Gail Herman is a children's book author who wrote the 1991 book Big Bird Visits Granny Bird.
Herman has authored "Who Is?" biographies of athletes, including Jackie Robinson and Derek Jeter. She has written several Disney Faeries books, Scooby-Doo readers, Clifford books, and various early reader adaptations (including Heidi and "The Lion and the Mouse").
