Gailard Sartain, upper right, with Misty Rowe and Don Harron at Slim's Bar-B-Q

Gailard Sartain (1946-2025) was an actor best known for his work on Hee Haw (1972-1992) and opposite Jim Varney as Ernest P. Worrell in multiple projects (including Hey Vern, It's Ernest!, Ernest Goes to Camp, Ernest Saves Christmas, and Ernest Goes to Jail).

On Hee Haw, Sartain's roles included general store assistant Maynard and Orville, the short order cook at Lulu's Truck Stop. In character as Orville, he attended Slim's Bar-B-Q and Big Bird's subsequent rendition of "Songs" (although only seen most clearly in a reaction cutaway shot at a different time).

Sartain was one of several Hee Haw cast who starred on the short-lived spinoff sitcom Hee Haw Honeys, playing son Willie Billie. As a character actor in movies, his films include The Buddy Holly Story (as the Big Bopper), The Outsiders, The Big Easy (with Dennis Quaid), Fried Green Tomatoes, The Replacements (with Keanu Reeves), Ali (with Will Smith), and Elizabethtown. He impersonated Oliver and Hardy in the direct to video For Love or Mummy (with Bronson Pinchot as Laurel) and had guest voice roles on King of the Hill (in the series premiere) and The Simpsons.
