Gilroy at piano with Big Bird
Gene Gilroy is the father of Debra Spinney, wife of Caroll Spinney.
Gilroy has composed songs for Big Bird to sing at assorted live events. He composed a song performed by Big Bird at a tree-lighting ceremony at Lincoln Center, "Merry Christmas Wishing Well." He also wrote a song that Big Bird performed on the 1996 special, Kathie Lee Gifford's Lullabies for Little Ones, which he later performed (with Gilroy on piano) at the Sesame Street season 30 wrap party.[1]
